DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS
"Plurima Mortis Imago"
You can rely on Conquer Records to unearth some obscure brutal acts from Poland. Immemorial were a very good surprise and the albums recorded by acts such as Abgott or Hellborn feature enough qualities to attract the listener's attention. Devilish Impressions (which feature members of Asgaard and Luna Ad Noctum) stand for orchestral black metal with death metal influences. Very Dimmu Borgir in concept (not in delivery), the complex song structures are excellently crafted. On the other side, the complexity of the music displayed here makes «Plurima Mortis Imago» an exhaustive listen. There is no doubt as the quality of the band's members and compose and arrange is without any doubt something those guys (and girl) can do but it shall need you some attentive listens before you can get into the concept. Varied tempos (generally fast in delivery), the use of keyboard background (here quite efficient), varied (half screamed, half growled) vocals, «Plurima Mortis Imago» may at first listen sounds like a joining of the most technical structures the band can compose, played as fast or oppressive as they can. The production is good too and allows all instruments to shine. Good work but I think this album worth trying only if you enjoy melodic orchestral black metal.
